It was with keen interest that I read of gun control opponents signing up outspoken survivors of murder victims for subscriptions to Guns & Ammo. A disturbingly similar tactic was used against me in the early 1980s when I was a clinic guard; I received numerous ostensibly caring Christmas cards and letters from the antichoice crowd. Some rambled; a few contained thinly veiled threats. This just after the lone male protester would not leave the front of the clinic and slugged me. No one in those pre-Internet days breathed a word as to how they managed to get my home address.
So we see that those who are against abortion or gun control are not merely cut from the same cloth, but are likely exactly the same people. And if they have so very much time on their hands (to hound those who understand things differently from themselves), why is it they do not offer the bereaved support, or at least a shoulder to cry on? Why do they not take under their wing only embryos, but not every child who is under-parented or abused, the teens who foolishly became parents, and all the overwhelmed and struggling poor who are heads of families?
Well, if only they were humbly doing the Lord’s work, as they are wont to claim, they surely would. What they do instead is promote their own spin on the issues and try to intimidate those who disagree.
